Alex Baldwin, 65, of Mechanicsburg, OH formerly of Oil Springs, died January 5 in Mercy Memorial Hospital at Urbana, OH. He was the son of Dock and Mary Spradlin Baldwin, and was born in September 1903, at Oil Springs. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, his wife, Verna Estep Baldwin, five sons, Eual, Charles, Edwin, Carroll and Glenn Baldwin, all of Ohio, and four daughters, Mrs. Arlene Ratliff, Mrs. Morene Picklesimer, Mrs. Betty Blanton and Mrs. Madeline Cantrell, also all of Ohio. Two brothers, Elmer and Ellis Baldwin, live at Ashland, another brother, Eulas, lives at Springfield, OH; and a sister, Eskaleen Selvage of Sunbury, OH. Twenty-two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Services were held Wednesday, January 8, at the Caudill Fork United Baptist Church at Oil Springs, with Elders Millard O'Bryan, Lonza Reed and Thurman Caudill officiating. Burial followed in the family cemetery at Oil Springs. The Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
