John Balchan, Jr., b. May 14, 1921, in Detroit, MI. d.September 27, 2010 age 89, died in Carmel, IN, on of injuries sustained in a car accident June 2. He lived in Sebring, FL, Son of John b.7 Oct 1887 Poland and Anna Balchan b. 1894 Poland.
A WWII Marine Corps veteran, he saw action in the Pacific Theatre and China before being honorably discharged. In 1942 Lived at 4456 Orleans Street Detroit, and later 13191 Ten Mile in Warren where he ran his own service center called Johnels Snappy Service (after he and his wife) at 21457 Van Dyke cor. of Meadow St. Baseline.
He married Eleanor Marecki on Aug 24, 1946. After retirement they split their time between Michigan and Florida. He could fix anything or rebuild it better than new. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Raphael's Church, Springfield, OH, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. His ashes will be interred next to his wife at St Michaels Parish, Remus, MI.
He is survived by sons, Doug Balchan; his wife, Jane (Castellini) of Springfield, OH; and their four children, and Daryl Balchan, his wife, Patti (Dillon) of Carmel, IN, and their three children.
