Funeral services for Edith M. Bakken, 77, of Spencer, will be held Monday, February 19, at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, with the Rev. Judeen Johnson officiating. Casket Bearers will be Donald Davis, Claire Wellmerling, Duane Enderson, Eugene Davis, Jack McKeever and Lou Ellgen. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids and the Warner Funeral Home in Spence is in charge arrangements.
Mrs. Bakken died Thursday at Marian Health Center in Sioux City.
The daughter of William and Jesse (Sage) Wellmerling, she was born October 21, 1912 in Rembrandt. Her childhood years were spent there, where she received her education. She graduated from Rembrandt High School.
She married Agnar Bakken on April 23, 1939 in Cherokee County. Throughout their married lives they lived in several communities before moving to Spencer in 1972.
Mrs. Bakken was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Everett of Northern California and Earnest Wellmerling of Spencer and one sister and her husband, Ellen and Kenneth Akers of Madrid
