Military graveside services were held at Hillside Cemetery Saturday morning for Albert Baker, III, of San Diego, California. Inurnment was in the deceased's parents' plot, Albert and Vivian (Glines) Baker.
The Ray Mapes Post 236 color guard and firing squad were directed by Kenneth Inman, post chaplain, who presented the American flag to the deceased's son. The Wolbach Messenger, June 14, 2012, transcribed by Linda Berney
Al, a native son, born in San Diego, lost his battle with cancer on Sept 24 at his home in Lakeside. He is survived by three sons, Ed, Adam and John. Al also had three grandchildren.
He was a Navy Veteran of Vietnam era, and was a patriot to the end. His passion was participating in parades with his 1966 VW Manx dune buggy, which was painted like the American flag as his tribute to those lost on 9/11.
There will be no local service. Al will be laid to rest in Nebraska in the family plot. Published in U-T San Diego on Oct. 2, 2011
