Rita Arline Baker, 86, entered into Heavenly rest on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. Born on Sept. 12, 1927 to Albert and Stasia Hofer and raised in Stonington, Conn. United in a 59 year marriage to Norman O. Baker on Oct. 26, 1950 in Lincoln; they were blessed with seven children. Rita worked as a waitress for many years and as a nanny after retiring. She loved traveling, cooking those famous meatballs, and spending time with friends and family. Her outgoing, gregarious personality and loving heart touched everyone she met.

Survivors: children, spouses, Ronald and Ann Baker, Karen and Bob Mattison, Kim and Norman Stimbert all of Lincoln, Bill and Pam Baker, Winterset, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous other family members and wonderful friends. Preceded in death by her parents and husband; sons, Albert "Buddy" Baker and Donald Baker; daughter, Kathy Nickens; grandson, BJ Nickens; great-grandson, Lennon Hunt; brothers, Albert F. Hofer and Harry H. Hofer.

Rita's memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, Feb. 7, at Zion Church, 5511 S. 27th Street. Cremation, no viewing or visitation. Private interment at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials to Friendship Home, PO Box 85358, Lincoln, NE 68501. Online condolences at www.aspenaftercare.com.
