Shirley White Baker, age 87, of Laceyville, Pa. passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 26, 2014 at the Regional Hospital of Scranton, Hospice Unit. Shirley and her daughter Sharon have been living with their daughter and sister, Kim, in Factoryville for the last four years.

Shirley was born on Feb. 2, 1926 in Meshoppen, Pa. the daughter of the late George and Frances Stark White.

She was a graduate of Meshoppen High School with the Class of 1944. Shirley worked at Hitchcock's Restaurant in Laceyville for many years. She was also a homemaker for her husband, Cyrus T. Baker, who passed away on May 20, 2001, and her children.

She was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Meshoppen Grange, the Oriental Grange, the Pomona Grange and the Indian Hill Birthday Club. She absolutely loved to crotchet.

Shirley is survived by her children Sharon Baker of Factoryville, Pa., Arden Baker and his wife Diane of Meshoppen, Pa., Dolores Sands and her fiancé Edward Baldwin of Moosic, Pa., and Kimberly Galvin and her husband Michael of Factoryville, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; her brother Garth White and his wife Linda of Fredrick, Md.; her sister-in-law Mable Wood of Vestal, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Janet Wech (June 29, 2005), her grandson Jay Stevens (May 18, 2011), and her brothers Keith S. White (Jan. 13, 2005), Dale White, and George White, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church with Rev. Dolly Tarreto of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen, Pa. Calling hours will be from noon until the time of the service, on Wednesday, at the church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Sheldon Funeral Homes, Main St., Laceyville, Pa. Online condolences may be made at www.sheldonfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, 133 Doolittle Hill Rd., Laceyville, PA 18623.
