Miss Anna Woods Baker, last of the family of Elias and Hetty R. Woods Baker, early settlers of Blair County died at the Baker Mansion at Allegheny Furnace yesterday afternoon at 3:00 of old age. Her sweet personality and retiring disposition endered her to many people who will sincererly mourn her demise.
Miss Baker was born June 9, 1836, and lived her entire life at Baker Mansion. Her father owned and operated the industry located there for many years. She was a faithful member of the Second Presbyterian Church from its organization and was active in the work of the church and generous in its support. Her home life was beautiful and her days were spent in the thoughtfulness for others and deeds of kindness.
After her death of her father Elias Baker in 1854 she lived in the Bakers Mansion with her brother. The late Dr. S.C. Baker. She had two brothers. both of whom are deceased.
One brother, D. Woods Baker, the grandfather of F.W. Beckman and the late A.W Beckman was killed in a steamship accident.While the other brother. Dr. S. C. Baker died in June 1907.
One niece, Mrs. Louise Baker Beckman, resides in Sweden, this being the only surviving relative Since the death of her brother Miss Baker has been the owner of the Baker Estates and she was probably the wealthiest maiden lady in the state of Pennsylvania
