Funeral for Blanche McElyea Baker, 73, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Kenneth Chambers officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1924 in Limestone County to Ross and Myrtle Smith McElyea. She was a member of Point Mallard Church of Christ. She graduated from Wayne School of Nursing in Chicago and worked as a nurse at Decatur General Hospital and at several private doctors' offices.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Baker and Phillip Baker, both of Decatur, one daughter, Sandra Blankenship of Priceville; two brothers, Rupert McElyea and Richard McElyea, both of Athens; one sister, Donna Taylor of Athens; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Webb, Avery Tapscott, Bill Delancy, Lelton Busbey, Dale McElyea and Tony Gooch.
