Philip Stanley Baker, age 70, of Arcadia, IN died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Riverview Hospital at Noblesville, IN. He was born February 18, 1941 at Noblesville, IN to Charles Duane and Jean Elizabeth (Leaming) Baker. He was a graduate of Jackson Central High School (1959). He then joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country during the Viet Nam War. He was aboard two submarines during his tours of duty, the USS Bonefish and the USS Sea Dragon. After military service, he worked at the Chrysler Transmission Plant at Kokomo, IN where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of Arcadia Christian Church, the Cicero American Legion and the Cicero VFW where he served as Quarter Master for over 20 years. Phil was very active with the military funeral services provided by the Cicero Post. His memberships also included The Navy Club #29 of Hamilton County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening and woodworking and also was an avid sports fan. He married Nancy Ann (Blessinger) Baker on April 7, 1963. She survives him. Also surviving is his mother: Jean E. Barker of Sheridan, IN, son: Richard W. Baker of Tipton, IN, daughters: Melissa Ann Mitchell of Noblesville, IN and Susan Ranee Yeary of Cassopolis, MI, brother: Steve Baker of Westfield, In, sister: Nancy Jean Baker of Arcadia, IN, step brother: Clay Johnson, step sisters: Teresa Goo and Carla Cusanelli, step mother: Joan Baker, grandchildren: Megan, Colton, Alexandria, Allison, Sarah, Evan, Andrew, Jerry, Brad, Tommy, Travis and Kelly, great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Braydin, Arley, Leigh Anna, and Jimmy. Funeral services will be held October 29, 2011 at Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel with Scott Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be October 28th. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County. [Taken from Hartley Funeral Homes online obituary]
