90, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in a local care center after a long bout with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born April 8, 1919, in Amity, Oregon, on a farm near McMinnville, Oregon, to Edith (Jones) and Robert Prater. The Prater family moved to Junction City, Oregon, in 1928 and ran a dairy farm until moving to Coos Bay, Oregon, in 1938. Amy met Ford O'Neal Baker and they were married in May 1940. Ford preceded her in death in 1979. Amy spent most of her life in Camas Valley, Oregon. She also lived with and was cared for by her granddaughter Tina M. Fisher. From 1984 to 2007 Amy shared her life with Bill Petheram of Lookingglass, Oregon. Survivors include her son Garry David Baker who was born in 1944; six grandchildren,Tina Fisher; Bradley Martin; Rod Baker; Ryan Baker; Vic Baker and Kent Baker; 14 great-grandchildren, Kristen, Eli, Clay, Colton, Dylan, Alex, Ashley, Whitney, Cheyenne, Harlee, Byron, Leanna, Kadin, Sage and two great great-grandchildren, Zackary and Ryder. Amy was also preceded in death in 1986 by her son, Byron who was born in 1940. At the family's request, no service will be held. Private cremation rites have been held. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements. Amy Baker's celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009, at the Camas Valley Grange Hall at 4 p.m. followed by a potluck.
