Roy F. Baker was born at Dunbar, Nebr., on September 14, 1883, the second child of John M. and Elizabeth Nicholson Baker, and died at the age of 89 years, 10 months, 12 days.
He moved to Kansas with his parents and sister at an early age where he spent the remainder of his life in the Narka community.
He attended Maple Grove school, the Lincoln, Nebr., Business College and a few months at Kansas State College where he became sick with typhoid fever and was unable to return.
On December 29, 1908, he was united in marriage to Dora Edwards, and they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. Two children were born to this union: Lucile and Keith
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Narka Lodge No. 349, A.F. and A.M., the Elks Lodge No. 1203 at Fairbury, Nebr., and the Narka community Club.
Mr. Baker was married to Sylvia Dovel on June 15, 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one great-grandson, Todd Tuma.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucile, and her husband Earl Janasek of Munden; a son, Keith and his wife, Leona, of San Bruno, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Jones of Belleville; one brother, Joy M. Baker and his wife, Jo, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one step-son, Lynn Dovel and his wife, Veda.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in Narka with Rev. Fred Mansfield and Rev. John Frint officiating. The interment was made in the Maple Grove cemetery.
