James Henry Baker was born in June 1870 in Searcy County, Arkansas to Nathaniel (Than)and Elizabeth Cook Baker. He married Martha Lucinda House on August 26, 1902. Martha was the daughter of James Henry (Jim) and Emily Huffman House.

James and Martha had two girls and five boys: Lille May Baker Horton, Dexter F, Floyd Extra, Charles Edward, Ollie, John Henry and Cora Elizabeth Baker Reece.

In 1900, James Henry is listed as living with his parents, sister, Ara, and his Aunt Nancy Baker Coots.
The 1920 census list James and Martha living at Beaver, Searcy County, Arkansas. They were general farmers, owned their home and both could read and write.
The 1930 US census list James and Martha living in the same house with their children Dexter, Charles E, Ollie, John H, and Cora.

James’ WWI register Card states that he is Medium Height, slender built, blue eyes and dark hair.

Jim passed on September 29, 1945 in Big Flat, Arkansas and is resting beside Martha in the Big Flat Cemetery.
