Dr J L Baker Dies At Home In Carlton
Dr Joseph L Baker, prominent and successful physician, died at the family home in Carlton Friday afternoon from a protracted illness brought on by the exposure that is necessary to his profession of which he stood high, together with a attack of pneumonia.
The funeral services were held at the residence Saturday afternoon at four o'clock conducted by Rev G W Cumbus, assisted by Rev W K Carswell; the interment was in the Carlton cemetery with Dorsey's Funeral directors in charge.
Surviving Dr Baker are his wife, Mrs Lula Baker, two sons, Mr L M Baker, prominent druggist of Madison, Ga, and Mr Ernest Baker of Carlton, one daughter, Mrs W H Paul and eight grandchildren.
Dr Baker was reared at Monroe, Ga., moved to Carlton as a young man where he built up a very large practice and was beloved by everybody in that whole section. He was in his 66th year and was a member of the Masonic Order.
