QUITMAN - Curtis Everett Baker, 79, of Quitman, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007. He died after a lengthy illness. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes with Revs. Bill Lacy and Mike Morrow officiating.

Burial will be in Quitman City Cemetery under the direction of Lowe Funeral Home, Quitman.

Mr. Baker was born July 5, 1928, in Wood County and was a lifelong resident. He was a longtime Cattleman and also a manager of Wood Co. Farmers Co-op for 14 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Cartwright Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, Arch W. and Maud A. Baker; five brothers, Lester, John, Charlie, Albert and Skeet; two sisters, Leona 0'Shields, Euna Amason; and grandson, Wesley E. Baker in January 2007.

He is survived by wife of 59 years, Lola Fay Baker, Quitman; two sons, Tim Baker and wife Bobbie, Danny Baker and wife Cindi, all of Quitman; four grandchildren, Patty Taylor, Shaun Baker, Cristi King and Christy Baker of Quitman; five great-grandchildren, Alex and Abbi Taylor, Camdon King, Kaylin and Kinlee Baker, Quitman; two sisters, Geneva Thornhill, Duncanville, Mildred Melton, Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
