Battey & Company, Chicago 1889: Alvin B. Baker is the third in a family of seven children born to Algernon S. and Maria Allen Baker, both natives of Cumberland Co KY, and was born in the same county on 16 Oct 1835. Alvin B. Baker was reared in his native county until he came to Texas with his father --- in 1861 he joined the Confederate Army in Col. Youngs regiment and later transferred to Gen. S. B. Maxey's command --- returned home due to illness, recovered and joined the State troops and served until the end of the war --- in 1871 formed a partnership with G. C. Baker and engaged in mercantile business in Clarksville until 1881 when he retired (more), OBIT: CLARKSVILLE TIMES 11 Jul 1974 '60 Years Ago' one of the best known citizens of the county died, RED RIVER RECOLLECTIONS page 89, child of Algernon and Mariah Allen Baker, name as Alvin Bosley, MARRIAGE: A.
