Albert J. Baker
NEWPORT - Albert Joseph Baker, 69, of Oliver Twp., Newport, died Saturday, December 16, 2006 in the Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1937 in Newport to the late Raymond J. and Mary (Sheaffer) Baker.
Albert and his father were founders of Baker's Septic Tank Service which his son, Joe will continue to operate. He also worked 37 years for the Borough of Newport.
He was a member of Pine Grove Church of God; Newport VFW Post #34; Newport Fire Company; Newport American Legion #177; Newport Social Order of Owls; Duncannon Lions Club; Millerstown Moose #925; Newport Lodge #381, F&AM; Newport Royal Arch Chapter #238; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Shrine; and Ickesburg Sportsmans Club.
Albert loved his family and friends. He was a good father and a good friend. He and Carol loved camping with his family. He loved his dog Buddy and his new puppy, Bucky. He had Harley Davidson motorcycles ever since he was a teenager. He especially loved Christmas with his grandchildren.
He was a giver in every sense of the word. He took pride in his work and he never gave up.
Surviving are his children, ... sisters, ... fiance and companion, ... grandchildren, ... great grandchild, ... and his 8 year old black lab, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Baker, sister Rhoda Saylor and brother Walter Baker.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Newport Church of God with viewing from 10 a.m. until service time. Pastor Rodney Bower and May Kay Miller will officiate. There will also be a viewing on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with Masonic Services at 8 p.m. by the Newport Lodge #381, F&AM.
