Bernice M. Dively, 87, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Fishertown, passed away Thursday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
She was born in Lakemont, daughter of the late Deforrest Golden and Elva Baker. She married Gabriel S. Dively on Jan. 29, 1942, in Cumberland, Md., and he passed away July 5, 2011.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail Gardner and husband, Richard, of West Loop; two sons: Gabriel Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Blue Knob and Charles and wife, Connie, of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Glass; a daughter, Kathy Mae Dively; a grandson, Ricky Gardner; and a sister, Faye Housel.
Bernice attended Claysburg High School. She retired in 1986 as manager of the Health Mart, Everett, and then worked at Hardee's for several years. She was a member of the Ryot Church of the Nazarene, where she served on the board and sang in the choir.
Bernice enjoyed crafts, reading, sewing and singing at the Cowboy Corral at the nursing home.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at the Ryot Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Mark Mohnkern officiating. Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.
