Sandra K. Baker, 66, of Martinsburg passed away unexpectedly late Thursday afternoon at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of David L. and Martha N. (Ketner) Detwiler. She married George R. Baker March 16, 1963, near Martinsburg. Surviving are her husband; her mother, Martha Smouse, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg; two sons: Wesley B. (Kathleen) of Springfield, Va., and Douglas E. (Deanna) of Grantville; a daughter, Halley B. (Matthew) Henry of Coatesville; five grandchildren: Wendy Baker, Evan Baker, Olivia Baker and Brynn and Paige Henry; three sisters: Donna L. Hoover, Lenora J. Boor and Malinda Smouse; a brother, Duane Smouse; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, David Detwiler, and her stepfather, Merle Smouse. Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, and its WELCA, or Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, organization. She retired as an ophthalmic technician from the office of Dr. Larry W. Jones, Roaring Spring, in 2005. Mrs. Baker was a 1961 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg, and a 1962 graduate of Clearfield Hospital School for Nursing, where she received an LPN degree. She was a member of Roaring Spring Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Baker enjoyed doing needle work, especially quilting, and was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy H. Knauss officiating. Private interment at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury. The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society; Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, River Walk Corporate Center, 333 E. Carson St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219; or a favorite charity of your choice.
