DAVID E. "SHAKE N BAKE" BAKER

CARPENDALE, W.Va. — David Edwin "Shake N Bake" Baker, 74, of Carpendale died Friday, May 30, 2014, at home.

Born Dec. 11, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Harry and Bernice (Foreman) Baker. He was raised in "Mosquito Flats" Ridgeley.

David was a proud graduate of Ridgeley High School, class of 1958. After high school, he served with the United States Air Force for four years.
Upon his honorable discharge from the USAF, he married Diana (Taylor) Baker on Jan. 6, 1965.

David was a 10-year employee of Pittsburgh Plate and Glass Company. He changed careers to the Western Maryland Railroad, where he retired as an engineer from the CSX Railroad with 30 years of service.

David was a member of Lodge 271, LOOM of Wiley
Ford, the Good Fellowship Club, Ridgeley Old Farts Club, and the National Academy of Railroad Sciences (N.A.R.S.).

Survivors include his wife, Diana (Taylor) Baker; two sons, David A. Baker and wife, Shelia, Chesapeake, Va., and Chad E. Baker and wife, Andrea (Missy), Frostburg; one daughter, Lesley A. Baker, Ridgeley; one brother, Larry E. Baker and wife, Doris, LaVale; one sister, Patricia Diggs, LaVale; a special aunt, Ruby Eckard; and six grandchildren, Taylor, Luke, Nick, Lylah, Nate, and Sarai Baker.

David dedicated his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by many dear friends. He especially enjoyed visiting three special friends, Bill Scott, Dick Milliron and Jim Starr.

The family will receive friends at Calvary United Methodist Church, 30 Knobley Street, Ridgeley, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from 11 to 1 p.m.

The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Gulbronson, officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 619, Ridgeley, WV 26753.
