Mildred was born in Huntington County to Virgil and Wilma (Zellner) Wearly. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1941. She married Alvin L.Baker on June 5, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama while he was in the Army Air Force, at Birmingham Southern College, in flight traning. Mildred was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church which is now part of God's Grace Ministries UMC. She was very active as a Sunday School teacher and President of the United Methodist Women for several years. She loved singing in the choir, working in the yard and reading, especially her Bible. She was an active member of the Local AARP Chapter. Mildred and her husband, Alvin, made several trips to the Oklahoma Indian Reservation to work; building houses, churches and fellowship halls for the Indians. Mildred took up painting from one of the women and painted several pictures for friends and family. She and her husband went on several camping trips throughout the United States. She was a great homemaker and a great companion to her husband for 65 years. She loved her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a caring husband, Alvin and five children, Diana (Terry) Stafford, Sweetser, James (Jessa) Baker, Gas City, Stephen (Barbara) Baker, Marlaina (Gayle) McAlister, Marion and Sheila (John) Moorman, Swayzee. There are also 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Wilma Wearly, sister, Betty Brinnemen and brother, Lanny Wearly.
