Carmela Q. Baker, 38, of the 500 block of N. 63rd St., passed away Feb. 14, 2008. A native of Portsmouth, she graduated from L.C. Byrd High School in Chesterfield, Va. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Katherine Rogers and her father, Daniel Baker; one sister, Barbara Jones (Timothy); two brothers, David Baker and Kenneth Nichols; grandparents, Florence and William Palmer of Philadelphia and James W. Phillips of Norfolk and Pearlie Mae Almond of Norfolk; four nieces, Nicole Baker, Serenity and Keara Nichols, Mercedes Jordan; and two nephews, Davon and Travis Baker and other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul COGIC, 1615 Isaac St., Norfolk, with Dr. Wilbert Daniels presiding. Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
