Sallie Baker was born June 30, 1927 in Spaulding County, Griffin, Georgia to the late Reverend Charlie and Willie Bell Patrick.
At an early age she moved to Atlanta Georgia and attended Booker T. Washington evening school. She continued her education at Blatyton School of Business where she graduated with honors.
Her work experiences included working for the Federal Reserve Bank, Scripto, Bell Bomber Plant and co-partner of Floyd's Trucking Company with her husband, Albert Sr., until her retirement.
Sallie met and married Albert in 1950. To this union was born four children, two sons and two daughters.
Sallie confessed her love for Christ at an early age. As a child she joined Hosanna Methodist Church in Griffin, GA. Later, she joined Georgia Oliver where she served faithfully, until her death.
At Georgia Oliver, she sang with the Gospel Choir, served on the Communion Steward Board, Church Treasurer and worked on several committees of the Administration Board.
Sallie was very faithful and godlike to everyone who needed or called on her for help. Ill or well she was there for you. She never turned anyone down.
She was an active member of several organizations including the neighborhood club. Her favorite pastime was socializing.
Sallie is survived by a loving husband, Albert Baker Sr., two sons; Albert (Shirley) Baker Jr. and Ralph (Cynthia) Baker and two daughters; Belinda Yvonne Baker and Peggy Baker; three grand children; Rafael L. Colbert, Jada Holmes and Shannon Baker; two great grandchild Waddell Colbert, David Morris Jr.; one brother, George (Vera) Patrick (San Jose, CA) five sisters; Rosa Patrick Roberson (Pittsburgh, PA), Annie Grace Patrick, Ruby D. Culpepper, Effie P. Turner and Lillie B. Billingslea all of Atlanta; and an host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Watkins Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
