Harry E. Baker, 99, of Memphis, MO, passed away August 19, 2005, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

The son of Oley Eldon and Hannah (Price) Baker, he was born December 9, 1905 on the Baker family farm six miles east of Memphis, MO.

He married Edna Prather on February 16, 1975 at the First Christian Church in Memphis by Rev. Len Camp. They established their home in Memphis.

Harry was a retired livestock and row crop farmer. He loved to garden and work on his farm as long as his health permitted.

He is survived by a nephew, Richard Lee Baker of Greentop, MO, several other nieces and nephews; and one brother-in-law, Richard Ferguson, Memphis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

The family has suggested memorials to the First Christian Church, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Visitation and funeral services were held August 22, 2005, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Brother Jack Sumption officiating. Music was by Ann Luther. Pallbearers were Kerry Baker, Phil Duley, Junior Snodgrass, Richard Baker, Vernon Yoder, and Sterling Forrester. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
