Leonard Woman Dies Of Heart Disease
The town of Leonard and surrounding community was shocked last Thursday morning when the news was circulated that Mrs. Bertie Upton Baker, wife of Lee Baker, had passed away that morning with heart disease. Mrs. Baker was apparently in her usual health on Wednesday preceding her death and the bereavement is rendered doubly sad on account of it being wholly unexpected.
Besides her husband the deceased leaves to mourn her loss two sons and two daughters, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of one son, Charles, who is in California.
The funeral was conducted last Friday afternoon at the Leonard Christian church by Rev. Tom Wood of Canton, attended by a large crowd of sympathizing friends and relatives, after which her remains were laid to rest in the Leonard cemetery.

.................The sad news of the death of Mrs. Lee Baker came over the wire, the morning of the 11th of February. She died that morning at five o'clock of heart trouble. She was in her usual health on Monday morning. She had one spell Monday afternoon and grew worse till another spell came on when she never rallied. Mrs. Baker was a lady that everybody loved. She was a member the R. N. A. and Yeomen, and the Daughters of Rebekahs. She always held an [a line is blurry and unreadable here] ing members in all her lodges. She was a member of the Christian church and one of the leading members there. She was always in her place at the right time and was loved by everyone and one that will be missed very sadly. It is hard to give up one so useful and one that is needed at home as she was. Why such things must be we cannot understand. She leaves a husband, four children, two sons, two daughters, to, mourn the loss of one of the best of wives and mothers. They all have our sympathy................
