Dr. Bonner Lee Baker

Macon-Dr. Bonner Lee Baker, 62, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. Burial will be in the Baker Cemetery in Twiggs County. Family will greet friends on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 5:00-7:00PM at Hart's Mortuary at the Cupola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.
Dr. Baker was a member of the American Medical Association, the Bibb County Medical Society, and on the Volunteer Faculty for Mercer University. He was a Diplomat of the American College of Physician Executives. In 1968, he graduated from Jones County High School and was voted most likely to succeed. He was a Georgia Tech graduate 1968-1972, as well as, Medical College of Georgia 1972-1976. Dr. Baker did an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. He did his residency at the Medical College of Georgia. After graduating, he worked as an ER physician at the University Hospital in Augusta January 1979-November 1979. He practiced Internal Medicine in Macon from 1980-1990 and was truly loved by his patients. Dr. Baker was the Medical Director at Coliseum Northside Hospital from 1990-1999, as well as, Medical Director at Rutherford Hospital of Rutherfordton, North Carolina until his retirement in 2005.
Dr. Baker was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Study Fellowship. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hudson Baker; daughter, Rebekah Lynn Baker; son, Stephen Lee Baker; grandchildren, Reyna Lynn, Noah Drake, Devon Ann Baker, and Chance Lee Baker.
