Captain Baker was a fighter pilot, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

He was killed in service, piloting F-86F Sabre #52-5065. Missing after an attempted approach to Hill Air Force Base, Utah. During go around, concerned about fuel state, but never declared an emergency, he was never heard from again. Assumed to have crashed into the Great Salt Lake.
