Mary C. (Cezus) Bakas, 89, of 471 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor, passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 6, 2010).
Born in Windsor, Mary was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Freda (Buvid) Cezus. Mary was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Gertrude's Parish in Windsor.
She was predeceased by her husband John Bakas of Windsor and sadly her daughter, Mary Ann Bakas of Arlington, VA. Mary is survived by her son Robert and his wife Evelyn, of Windsor; a brother Joseph G. Cezus and his wife Jean, of Windsor; a brother James Cezus and his wife Dorothy, of Port Charlotte, FL. She was a grandmother to Robert, Jr. of Bloomfield and Linda of Enfield. She was a great grandmother to Rachel of Enfield. Mary is survived by nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
During the last few years, Mary loved to tell stories and reminisce about her youth and working at her parent's farm in Windsor, affectionately known as "The Farm". A special note of thanks to her nephew, Vincent (Vinny) Cezus of Windsor, who was Mary's caregiver for the last few years, who was either a few steps or a phone call away.
Family and friends may gather at 9:00 a.m. on Friday (June 11, 2010) at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gertrude's Church, 550 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Windsor.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
