Velma Baize, the daughter of Lem Baize and Nancy "Nannie" Mudd, was born on December 2, 1916. Her paternal grandparents were Matt Baize and Liza Renfrow. Her maternal grandparents were Dillard Mudd and Candy Woosley. Velma died at the age of 1 year, 3 months and 26 days on March 28, 1918. She was buried in the Payton Cemetery west of Dan Station Road near the Ohio County line in Grayson County, Kentucky. Also buried here are her sister Deana and her brothers Hobert, Homer and Willard, who died within nine days of each other in the later part of November and early December of 1931. Her parents are buried in the Miles Oller Cemetery in Grayson County.
