Thelma, also known as Jo to friends and co-workers, was lovingly known to her family as the family matriarch. She was born to Vanderson Osko Bailey and Lillian Florence (Reed) Bailey, the second of three sisters. She was employed in the Motion Picture Industry from 1919 for over 60 years. Before retirement, she was Executive Assistant to the President of Starline Pictures (later known as New World Pictures). She was very active in local and international chapters of WOMPI (Women Of The Motion Picture Industry), having served in many capacities such as President, Secretary, Treasurer and was on various committees to raise funds for great causes, one of which was Will Rogers Foundation.
Her career started in 1919 at First National Pictures, later known as Warner Bros. Then when United Artists was formed, she moved there as Executive Secretary to the Branch Manager. In the mid 1950's, she moved, with one of her co-workers, when he took over as District Manager of
Allied Artists; when he left to form Starline Pictures, she went with him as his Executive Assistant, where she remained until retirement.
