Mrs. Anne Bailey died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lou Shanks, with whom she had made her home for a number of years, at 4 A. M. Tuesday, aged 74. She suffered a stroke of paralysis last fall and her death was the result of a third stroke, which came Sunday. Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of Nudigate Owsley, of Shelby county, a brother of the late Gov. Owsley, and was closely related to the Owsley's of this county. Her husband, Hartwell Bailey, married a sister of hers, who died childless. He was a brother of the late Winfred, Harrison and Carroll Bailey, all well-known here, the first and last named being residents for a long time. Hartwell Bailey died some time before the war and Mrs. Bailey never married. She was a member of the Christian church and those who knew her best say a better woman or a more devoted mother never lived. Four of her five children survive her: Mrs. Shanks, Mrs. J. A. Pickett, of Shelby, Mrs. W. H. Bonnie, of Chattanooga, and Carroll Bailey, of Missouri. The day before her death, she made a will and told her daughter that she would stay but little longer. The remains were taken to Shelbyville yesterday and interred beside those of her husband.

Mrs. Lou Shanks, Mrs. Will Severance and Mr. Thomas H. Shanks accompanied the remains of Mrs. Bailey to Shelbyville. Judge J. P. Bailey, whose aunt she was, also went.
