Mr Bailey was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Grape City Lodge, and a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
He had been employed for several years by the carpenter's union in Erie, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include his widow, Helen C Burnham Bailey; a son Richard D Bailey of North East; a daughter, Mrs Malcom (Linda) Johnson of Roy, Utah; his stepmother, Gertrude Bailey of Harborcreek; six sisters, Mrs Roy (Nellie) Huntley of Lowville, Donna Brooks of North East, Mrs Jim (Jean) Dryer of Texas, Dawn Bailey and Mrs Gary (Inez) Jasefawicz, both of Harborcreek, and Mrs Ross (Marsha) Carbtree of Union City; and a brother Jack Bailey of Harborcreek.
