Comanche - DORIS MARIE LAWRENCE BAILEY, 80, of Comanche, Okla., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in Duncan Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today in Fairlawn Cemetery, with Dow Pannell officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Doris was born March 11, 1928, in Maysville, to Ross and Iva Lee Thompson Lawrence. She married Jack Bailey on Oct. 18, 1944, in Waurika. They came to Comanche in 1953. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and bunco with her friends at Comanche Heights, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Doris was a past board member of the Comanche Housing Authority.
She is survived by her son, Jack Bailey and wife Pat of Comanche; a daughter, Judy Absher of Edmond; seven grandchildren, Matt Absher, Julee Caudill, Misty Clark, Jeana Parker, Keisha Howell, Khari Cox and Amber Casey; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill Bailey and wife Louise of Comanche; two nieces, Jody Ballard and Bea Butler; three nephews, Billy Bob Bailey, Mike McClure and Dwayne McClure; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Elmer Lawrence, Lloyd Lawrence and Cecil Lawrence; and two sisters, Ione Meadows and Jean McClure.
