An Akron woman died of injuries sustained in a one-car accident on County Road 375 North, west of Indiana 25, at 6:25 a.m. today.
County police said [Catherin] E. BAILEY, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Coroner Edward WENRICK said Bailey died of massive head injuries. Police said she was thrown from the car when it left the county road, hit a tree, and flipped before landing on its wheels. Police said Lauren P. SMILEY, 18, Rt. 5, Rochester, was treated at Woodlawn Hospital for multiple cuts and scratches and released.
Police initially not certain which woman was driving the car, said the accident is still under investigation.
It was Fulton County's fourth traffic fatality of the year. By this date last year, two had died locally.
Arrangements are pending at the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester.

Graveside services for Catherin E. BAILEY, 18, Rt. 5, Rochester (Meiser's Trailer Court), will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Akron Cemetery.
The Rev. Jack HARTMAN will officiate. There will be no visitation. Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, is handling arrangements.
Miss Bailey was killed about 6:25 a.m. Tuesday in a one-car accident on County Road 375 North, west of Indiana 25.
She was born Nov. 26, 1970 in Rochester to Robert BAILEY, Rochester, and Eleanor HOPKINS FETROW, Akron. She was employed at Wireflex Corp., in Bourbon, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Rochester.
Surviving with the mother and father are four sisters, Mrs. Kimberly HARSHMAN, Akron; Mrs. Charles (Karin) FOWLER, Rochester; Mrs. Terry (Barbara) HEISLER, Beaver Dam, and Miss Linda FETROW, Akron; two brothers, Byron Robert BAILEY, Rochester, and Aaron FETROW, Toledo, Ohio; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Byron (Edna) BAILEY, Rochester; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth HOPKINS, Akron; the maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Oscar "Sissy" HOPKINS, Akron, and aunts and uncles.
