Alvis Bailey
PLEASANT GARDEN - Alvis Bailey, 82, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, at Forbis and Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at
Gilmore Memorial Park, Julian.
Alvis was born in Rockingham County, to the late Ruben and Annah Trent Bailey. He was a member of Shannon Hills Chapel
and was retired from the Guilford County Sheriff's Department. He also served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a
member of the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Frances Paschal Bailey of the home; four children, Larry Bailey and wife, Kim of
Pleasant Garden, Richard Bailey of Greensboro, Faye Bailey and husband, Ray Dudley of Gibsonville, Judy B. Lacivita and
husband, David of Kernersville. He is also survived by a sister, Florence Knight of Summerfield; and a brother, Milton Bailey and
wife, Nancy of Reidsville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shannon Hills Bible Chapel, 900 W. Vandalia Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden is serving the family.
