Jeffrey "Beetle Bailey" of Monument Beach died unexpectedly Sunday August 17, 2014 at Falmouth Hospital due to complications following surgery. Mr. Bailey was a retired Bourne Police officer where he dedicated 28 years of service. He was a decorated SGT in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with a Silver Star,Combat Action Ribbon,Good Conduct Medal with 1 star, National Defense Service Medal,Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars which signifies 2 tours in Vietnam, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Gold Palm. The Vietnam Cross of Gallantry is awarded to a service man who while engaged in combat went above and beyond and committed an act of Valor. Mr. Bailey is survived by a fiancé Noel Monillas of Monument Beach, 1 son Jeffrey Brian Bailey Jr. of Buzzards Bay, 2 daughters Whitney Monillas of New Bedford, Karyn Croce of Lakeville and 8 grandchildren. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held August 25, 2014 at 2:15 PM at the MA National Cemetery Bourne. Please meet at the main road (Connery Ave.) entering the cemetery at 1:45 PM.
