Henry Shannon Bailey, age 90 of Pikeville, Ky. passed from this life on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, after a long illness. He was born May 24, 1918 in Greenup Co., Kentucky the son of the late James Riley and Emma Cordelia Easterling Bailey.
He was retired from the coal industry, having worked as a miner and operator for over fifty years. He was a long-time member of Coal Operators and Associate, and a member of the Oleika Shrine Temple. He was a paratrooper during World War II and made many jumps in the European Theatre. As a young man, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ida Mae (Hall) Bailey, Daughters, Jackie (Donny) Bowling and Gerry (Danny) Adkins both of Pikeville, Ky. Grandchildren, Matthew (Pic) Adkins, Erica Pena, Jackson Howie and Andrew Bowling and Great-Grandchildren: Anabelle & Alex Adkins.
Funeral Services: Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Hall Funeral Home with Tracy Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckingham Cemetery at Bevinsville, Ky. Under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Martin, Ky.
