Alice I. Bahn, 95, of Livingston, died of natural causes at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyo., on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. Cremation took place in Wyoming. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N. Third St. in Livingston. Rev. Glenn Woodson of Holbrook United Methodist Church will officiate. A time of refreshment and remembrance of Alice's life will be held at Holbrook United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, corner of Fifth and Lewis Streets, following the memorial service. Graveside committal and burial of the cremated remains will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Alice was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Bainville, Mont., the daughter of Oscar and Sadie (Ahlgren) Romo. She attended elementary school at Lakeside and graduated from Bainville High School in 1935. She also attended college at Havre, Mont., where she received her teaching certificate, and taught at Damm School north of Culbertson, Mont., and at Lakeside School. In her younger days, Alice worked as a sales clerk at the Montgomery Wards store in Williston, N.D., and later in Livingston. She also worked as a telephone operator in Culbertson, Flaxville and in Livingston. After many years of service with Mountain Bell Telephone Co., Alice retired in 1982.
On Dec. 28, 1946, Alice married Lester E. "Bill" Bahn in Bainville. They lived in Colfax, Wash., and Miles City and moved in the summer of 1952 to Livingston, where they resided for more than 50 years.
Alice was an active member of the JayCees, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Moose Lodge, Livingston Girl Scouts, First United Methodist Church and Holbrook United Methodist Church, Livingston Saddle Club and the Telephone Pioneers.
Both Alice and Bill were also avid square dancers. As a kind and loving person, Alice was always willing to give her time, care and financial support to others in need.
Survivors include her daughter Beverly (David) Roberts of Cheyenne, Wyo.; son Lawrence (Dena) Bahn of Eugene, Ore.; five grandchildren, Heather (Gary) Homann of Columbia, Mo., Amanda Roberts of Las Vegas and Logan, Nicole and Jaclyn Bahn, all of Eugene, Ore.; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hayden Homann, of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Walter Romo, of Saco, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Francis, Edwin, Lester, Paul and Clarence Romo; and her husband, Bill Bahn.
