Inscription:
The following obituary notice appeared in the "Mercer Dispatch" dated October 11, 1912.

"B.S.B. Bagnall, one of the best known residents of this section, died Monday morning at his home in Jefferson township, aged almost 76 years. Death was caused by a complication of diseases and infirmities incident to age and terminated a long illness. He was a son of William Bagnall, a native of England, was born within sight of the house in which he died and spent the greater part of his life in that section. He was a man of excellent character and a good citizen and wherever known was thoroughly respected. For many years he had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Mercer. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served with credit in the Fifth regiment, P.H.A. In 1859 he married Rebecca Noble, who survives him, with the following children: Mrs. W.P. Kirk, of Wilmington township; Jane, of Warren; Mrs. W. T. Leggett and Miss Nellie, of Pittsburgh; W. B., of Pontiac, Ill.; Miss Scott, at home; and C.W. of LaCrosse, Ind. Two brothers, John W., of New Castle, and James A., of Lackawanna township; and one sister, Mrs. H. H. Allison, of Pittsburgh, also are living. Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday at 2:00 P.M., and interment was made in the Mercer cemetery."
