Jefferson City Post Tribune, Monday, March 9, 1970:

James Herbert Bagby, 65, died at 3:50 am Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital.

Mr. Bagby was a member of the Jefferson City police force for 24 years. He was also a member of the A.M.E. Zion Church and Capital Lodge No. 9, F. and A.M.

He was born in Jefferson City, March 20, 1904, the son of George Bagby Sr. and Virginia Anderson Bagby. He was married in 1966 to Mrs. Leona Johnson, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James H. Bagby Jr, Chicago, Ill., and Kenneth M. Young, Jefferson City; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Kathryn Chandler, St. Louis; one step-daughter, Mrs. Della Marie Fullbright, Durhan, N.C.; two step-sons, Marvin and Calvin Johnson, Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Louella Ross, Jefferson City; one brother, Isaac E. (Zeke) Bagby, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
