Better known as Chris, Mr. Christian Baechler was born in Sarrebourg, France, Dec. 27, 1823.
At the age of fourteen years he left home and lived in the city of Metz, France for seventeen years.
Coming to America when he was thirty one years old he landed in Putnam county, Illinois, where he lived for two years, and in 1856 he settled in Bureau township in this county, where he improved his fine farm of three hundred and twenty acres.
Mr. Baechler was married in February of 1860 to Anna Gingerich of Peoria, Illinois; three sons were born to them, Oliver, Rudolph and Manny.
Oliver being the only one left, and now living on the old homestead.
In 1876 Mr. Baechler moved to Princeton.
