Dorothy was born October 30, 1916, in Hickory Grove Township, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Annie (Blake) Badtram. She attended school in Lincoln Township. She was united in marriage to Melvin Dammann on September 1, 1938, in Davenport, on the 55th wedding anniversary of her grandparents, William and Doris (Kelling) Badtram. Melvin preceded her in death on October 29, 2001.
Along with her husband, Dorothy farmed west of Eldridge for many years prior to her retirement, and stayed on the farm until they moved to Park View, Iowa, in 1998. Her memberships included Golden Wedding Club, Northwest Davenport Ladies Liedertafel, Women of the Moose #106, Scott County Historical Society, Walnut Grove Pioneer Village and the North Scott Seniors Group. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, volunteering and just helping others in need.
Those left to honor her memory include her brothers, Edward Badtram, Davenport, Harry (Alta) Badtram, Park View, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mildred Badtram, Bennett, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
Her parents, brothers, Albert, Henry, Robert and Clarence, and a sister, Alice Henningsen, preceded her in death.
Dorothy's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Silvercrest and the hospice nurses for the wonderful care they provided to Dorothy throughout these last months.
