WORLD WAR II

Charles V. Badger “Chuck”, was born on September 5th, 1925 in Des Moines IA and passed away at age 88 in his bed (under Hospice Care), on August 2nd, 2014 in Denver Colorado, at the Fitzsimons Veterans Home. Chuck was one month away from his 89th birthday – He will be missed.

Chuck served in WWII as a B29 bomber pilot – operating missions over Japan. He received his BS undergraduate degree after the war. Chuck always loved to fly; learning as a teenager before entering the war, then flying for the army-air corps during the war, and continuing for a large stretch of his life after the war. Chuck owned/operated a Piper airplane dealership for many years (before the small dealer contracts were canceled), after which time Chuck continued to fly and sell airplanes privately for as long as he was able.

Chuck was the indestructible man, surviving: WWII (including being shot down over the ocean), gangrene (no amputation), lime disease, multiple surgeries in his old age, and years of small aircraft flying to name a few. Chuck finally lost his will to fight during the last week ~ two of his life, when he stopped eating, and was then ready to move on to his next journey to meet God.
Chuck was married three times during his life: first to his wife Betty (he had 4 children with her – Bob, Rick, Linda, Doug), then to his second wife Joyce (he had 3 children with her – Scott, Karla, Michelle), then to his third wife Loree (he had one child with her – Ryan).

Chucks parents were Thomas and Ruth. Chuck had three siblings – his brothers: Tom (1st born), Jerry (3rd born), and Bryant (4th born). Chuck and his two oldest brothers (being of age) all served their country during WWII.

Chuck is survived by his children, his brothers Jerry and Bryant, and his many wonderful grandchildren (9 plus).

The memorial service will be on Friday, Aug 15th, at 1:30pm at Grace United Methodist Church: 4905 E. Yale Ave., Denver, CO. 80222. #303-756-1595.

Family, friends, and the public are welcome to attend – there will also be a reception afterwards.
