CHARLES DENTON BACHTELL, 252 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday in the Chambersburg Hospital after an illness of two weeks.
He was born March 4, 1883 at Edgemont, this county, a son of Tracey A. and Amanda Stouffer Bachtell
.
He attended the King Street U.B. Church in Chambersburg and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Div. 233, Hagerstown, and the Masonic Lodge of Smithsburg. He was a locomotive engineer for the Western Maryland Railroad for upwards of 25 years.
Besides his wife, Mary T., He is survived by daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Altemeir, this city; brother, E. P. Bachtell and sisters, Miss May Bachtell, Mrs. Joseph Smith, all of Hagerstown, and Mrs. Nora Bowman, Chewsville.
Funeral Monday at 2 p.m. at the Sellers Funeral Home in Chambersburg with Rev. Dr. Clyde W. Meadows officiating.
Burial will be in the Smithsburg Cemetery.
