MRS. BABCOCK IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Mrs. Anna G. Babcock, 89, widow of Benjamin Babcock, a horse and buggy era minister of the Methodist Church who organized the Valley Center Community Church, died Friday at Palomar Memorial Hospital. She was a resident here 27 years.

Her death follows by almost 12 months that of her husband who passed away last Dec. 19. Like her husband, Mrs. Babcock was a native of Falls River, Wis. born Anna Armitage. The couple was married in Oakfield, Wis., in 1900.

Mrs. Babcock and her husband moved here from North Dakota. In 1947 the Valley Center Church was built. She resided locally at 217 East Fifth Avenue.

Survivors include two sons, Benjamin L. Babcock, of Long Beach, and Robert, of Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret McCahern, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren, including Mrs. Margaret Calac, of Escondido; and five great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that friends who care to do so, inlieu of flowers, may make contributions to The Times Advocate Helpful Fund.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Alhiser-Wilson Chapel. The Rev. Ralph B. Johnson, pastor of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park, beside her husband.

Services for Mrs. Anna G. Babcock, 89, or 217 East Fifth Avenue, who died Friday, were conducted Tuesday in Alhiser-Wilson Chapel. The Rev. Ralph B. Johnson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated.

Misses Joyce Johnson and Diana Landos sang "Whispering Hope" and Sweet Hour of Prayer." They were accompanied by Mrs. Aleta Hellums.

Pallbearers were James Tiffee, Merrill Porte, Robert Babcox, Robert Wilson, Warnot Armstrong and Edwin Atyeo. Interment was at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery.
