Louise was born to German immigrants, Gustavus & Caroline Bilicke, in Boise City, Idaho Territory. Her father was a pioneer and merchant who, upon early retirement, moved his family to San Francisco Bay Area, and later to Tombstone Village, Arizona.

When the family moved to Modesto, California, Louise met and fell in love with Oramil McHenry, an enterprising young business man. On March 3, 1886, Oramil & Louise were married at the Ross Hotel in a candlelight ceremony; the beginning of a seemingly fairytale-like life. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Robert Albert, Albert Hewitt, Ora Louise, and Russell; the youngest living only a short seven months.

What began like a fairytale, unfortunately, ended in a bitter divorce in 1901. This same year, Louise suffered additional loss when her young daughter, Ora Louise, died as a result of an accidental fire while visiting Louise's brother, Albert Clay Bilicke, at the Hollenbeck Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Louise met, then married James H. Babcock on August 8, 1910. Their union, too, was short-lived, as James died on December 31, 1919.

For the remainder of her life, Louise travelled extensively; residing primarily in San Francisco.

On December 29, 1929, Louise was admitted to the Hahneman Hospital in San Francisco. She passed while in their care on January 3, 1930 at 5:45 p.m. Her cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage, with contributory chronic myocarditis.

Louise was cremated by Cypress Lawn Cremation on January 6, 1930. Her ashes were then transported to Modesto, California and placed in the McHenry Family Plot.
