Babb, Alma Irene 1914-1982
NOBLEBORO – Alma Irene Babb, 67, died Monday at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was the widow of John A. Babb who died in 1950.
She was born in Augusta, July 17, 1914, the daughter of Wallace and Ethel (Cough) Safford.
She had resided in Nobleboro for the past nine years. She was retired from GTE in Waldoboro. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Waldoboro. She was a member of Memaga Grange #555 of Waldoboro.
She is survived by a son, John F. Babb of Manchester; six daughters, Mrs. Joanne Bolduc of Union, Mrs. Priscilla Packard of Washington, Mrs. Judith Oxton of Camden, Mrs. Linda Baldwin of Nobleboro, Mrs. Nancy Simmons of Cushing and Mrs. Peggy Sleeper of Waldoboro; a brother, Charles Safford of Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Chase of Gardiner, and Mrs. Louise Reid of Readfield; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hall Funeral Home, 77 Maine St., Waldoboro, with the Rev. John D. Pooler officiating.
Burial will be in the West Washington Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
