Samuel Babb - JOHNSON CITY
Samuel R. Babb, 82, of 142 Poplar Hill Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center following an illness.
He was a native of Greeneville, son of the late Clarence L. and Mattie Gass Babb and had lived in Johnson City for sixty years.
Mr. Babb was a retired Service Representative for the Seavers Bakery and had formerly been an agent for the Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company for many years. He was a disabled veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army, 104th Timberwolves, Infantry Division, in France, Rhineland and central Europe. For his service, he was awarded three Bronze Service Stars and several Theatre Ribbons. Mr. Babb was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Babb, Wilburn Babb, and a sister, Maude Goss.
Survivors include his wife, Eva M. Howell of the home; a son, Samuel D. (& Sandy) Babb, Knoxville; a daughter, Cathy (& Randy) Humphries, Gray; two brothers, Harley Babb, Mosheim, Harold Babb, Elizabethton; three sisters, Thelma Whitehead, Elizabethton, Anna Hilton, Johnson City, and Helen Cross of Morristown; six grandchildren, Justin Humphries, Kristen Duncan, Jeff Babb, Sara Seiber, Lindsay Childress and Kara Culpepper; five great-grandchildren, Parker Duncan, Katie and Cole Babb, Madison and Reagan Childress; several nieces and nephews.
