Charles D. Babb was born on a farm on January 2, 1867, near Royal to Milton and Elizabeth Littler Babb. Charles Babb began in agriculture but his interests moved toward business and banking and he worked for the Champaign National Bank. In February 1900, Charles D. Babb and Eugene Raynor formed the Raynor and Babb Bank, a Homer Main Street Institution for the next three decades. The Raynor and Babb Bank was the bank devoted to real estate loans in Homer.
Over 200 people were in attendance at the marriage, on april 20, 1892, of Charles Daniel Babb and Alta Woody, daughter of Ansel C. Woody. the Babb-Woody wedding was the largest event held in the Presbyterian Church to that time.
