Peter David Baar, 72, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Walter L. and Elizabeth C. Baar. Peter served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Pentagon where he was one of the immediate staff members to the Secretary of the Navy and was later stationed in Norfolk until his retirement in 1987. He later became an antique dealer in Olde Town Portsmouth where he would retire in 2011.
Mr. Baar is survived by his niece Karen J. Krahn and nephew Kurt F. Krahn.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA by the Rev. David W. Cupps. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High Street, Portsmouth.
