Letta died on her 85th birthday at Methodist Hoapital in Indianapolis while residing with her son C. Dane Balliner and his wife Nellie.
Letta was the fifth of five children born to James Harvey and Martha Emaline (Watson) Linder. He was born in Muskingham Co., OH, and she was a Grant Co., native. Letta married Eli "Pat" Ballinger Apr 11, 1894 in Grant Co., IN. They had three children Gladys Lanore b. 1896, Laurel Wayne b. 1899, and Clarel Wayne b. 1902. She and her husband farmed in Jefferson Twp., Grant Co., and owned a home in nearby Upland where they ultimately retired. They were active in Jefferson Christian Church, a part of which is Jefferson Cemetery. Their daughter Gladys married Earl Liepse and their granddaughter was Wanda Jean (Liepse) Stough.
